📘 GUIDEBOOK | Supplements for Longevity
Before you reach for supplements, it’s best to optimize the foundations of a healthy lifestyle - sleep, diet, exercise, socialization and mental health.
With those in place again, before reaching for a pill bottle, try adjusting your diet to add the supplement through whole-foods. Fruits, vegetables and proteins contain more than just the supplement and many of these molecules support each other in the whole-food source.
Of course it’s true that some nutrients may have to be supplemented because they are not part of our natural diet. Some people may suffer from deficiencies such as a lack of fiber, potassium, iron, glycine, etc. In either case, supplementation could be the right path forward.
In terms of longevity, the aging research community has been looking for supplements which extend lifespan and healthspan. Several have been identified and studied in laboratory model organisms, such as the fruit fly (Drosophila melanogaster), a clear nematode (C. elegans) and rodent models.
Since clinical trials for longevity supplements are expensive, difficult to design, control and fund, many aging researchers are experimenting on themselves in order to demonstrate the effects as an N=1 (sample size of 1).
We see this type of experimentation from longevity enthusiasts like Dr. David Sinclair, Dr. Andrew Huberman, and Bryan Johnson, who have made their supplement stacks public.
Keep in mind that many of these longevity influencers have more financial resources than the average person and have a team of people in place to help them achieve their optimal health. Copying one of their routines may not be necessary or right for everyone.
I’ve created a guidebook to educate you about longevity supplements and share what the celebrity longevity enthusiasts are trying out.
In the guidebook, I cover:
What longevity supplements are
Omega-3 fatty acids
Coenzyme Q10
Taurine
Vitamin K2
Functional Mushrooms
Reishi Mushrooms
Lion’s Mane Mushrooms
Turkey Tail Mushrooms
Chaga Mushrooms
What to watch out for

📚 Book of the Week
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
Rating: ★★★★★
A haunting tale narrated by Death.
Main character, Leisel, finds solace in stolen books and navigates love, loss and the power of words amidst 1939 Nazi Germany.
Prepare for heartpare and a unique perspective on a dark time in history.
The Book Thief was turned into a movie and released in 2013, but Rotten Tomatoes only gives it 49%.
The book is magical, I recommend you read it before choosing the movie.
Zusak has another work, Bridge of Clay, which I’ll be adding to my To Read list.

The psychedelic, hand-carved sandstone temples in New Mexico.
Artist Ra Paulette has been excavating caves and then chiseling, digging and carving intricate underground wonderlands in the natural crevasses in the New Mexico Wilderness for the past 30 years.
The walls of the caves are decorated with carved designs ranging from flowers to abstract suns. No two of Paulette’s caves are alike, some featuring undersized doors or skylights that let the sun in.
Others include benches carved right into the wall or deep niches for flickering candles.
Paulette has created 14 caves of various sizes all in northern New Mexico, between Taos and Santa Fe.
Is anyone else thinking that perhaps we should consider that ancient cave paintings and carvings are an act of passion for art?
Perhaps even the act of just one person? 🤯
Yet we use ancient cave paintings to define a whole society during a certain time period.
I hope future generations find these caves and believe our era on Earth was this beautiful.
