📚 Book of the Week
Rating: ★★★★★
I started reading the Silo trilogy after getting hooked on the Silo series on AppleTV+ because I couldn’t wait a year for the next season.
I loved it. The trilogy starts with Wool, book one of the series, and begins with the Sheriff of the Silo’s fateful decision to go outside in a post-apocalyptic world. A death sentence. For his last task he is asked to clean the camera feed to the outside world with a swatch of wool.
The story then follows Juliette Nichols, a mechanic who becomes the next Sheriff and she unravels the mysteries of the Silo, the underground home to thousands.
Filled with lots of drama and mystery, this book is a page turner that I couldn’t put down. I really enjoyed the complexity of the world within the Silo, imagining how deep the silo goes to have over 100 floors, which take several days to go up and down.
Fortunately, the show follows Book 1 really well.
I can’t say the same for Book 2 and Season 2…review on that one to come.

Zebra striping is the drink trend of 2025.
This means alternating between alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
Surprisingly millennials are the forefront of the non-alcoholic movement in the U.S according to IWSR Bevtrax consumer research.
Millennials made up 61% of American non-alcoholic beer sales in 2024.
The same report forecasts that the no-alcohol category in the U.S will experience an 18% growth rate over the next 4 years.
I hosted a non-alcoholic cocktail tasting as part of my Lisbon Longevity Wednesdays community two weeks ago.
We tasted a gin-alternative spirit, three dealcoholized wines, and a very funky fermented tea.
In my book, the gin-spirit was the best.
